Before she became an assistant to counsel the United States Sentencing Commission in 2005, Jackson was a private attorney at both Goodwin Procter Law Firm based in Boston Massachusetts and Feinberg & Rozen LPP.

In 2005, Jackson Brown took the position of Assistant Federal Public Defender in Washington D.C where she was handling cases before U.S Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. On July 23, 2009, President Barack Obama nominated Kentanji to the position of Vice Chair at the United States Sentencing Commission after being confirmed by U.S Senate succeeding Michael E. Horowitz on the 20th of September, Jackson Brown was nominated by President Barack Obama to be a judge in U S State District for Columbia after having been confirmed on March 23rd ,2014 and then sworn In by Justice Breyer ion May.

On March 30, 2021, President Joe Biden announced the Nomination of Justice Ketanji Jackson Brown to serve as the United States judge for U.S. Court of Appeal for the Washington D.C Circuit. She was voted by all democrats in the senate alongside republicans Susan Collins, Lindsay Grahan and Lisa Murkowski and started work on June 17, 2021.  On February 25, 2022, Kentaji was announced by President Joe Biden as a nominee for the associate of the Supreme Court and her nomination were officially sent for confirmation by Senate Judiciary Committee opened in March 21, 2021.
