Eliud Kipchoge is a renowned long-distance runner who is famous for winning Gold in both Marathon and 5000 meters races. He is an Olympic record holder and the only man that runs a marathon under two hours in the world during the INEOS challenge. Eliud Kipchoge is renowned for winning numerous gods and breaking world records in his athletics career. He is a more experienced and talented marathoner that has remained a threat in the global space in the 21st century.

Eliud Kipchoge entered the Athletics career in 2002 when he succeeded in the 2002 IAAF World Cross Country Championship Junior that was organized in Dublin. He was unlucky and completed fifth. In the same year, Kipchoge participated in the 5000 meters junior completion, where he bagged his first gold medal for World Junior Championship Athletics.  Eliud Kipchoge was sick in 2003 and failed to participate in the 2003 IAAF World Cross Country Championship. In the same 2003, Eliud Kipchoge set the new world record for the Junior in 5000 meters when he completed the race after 12:52:53. This record remained active in the world and Africa until 2012 when it was broken by an Ethiopian Hagos Gebrhiwet at 12:47:53. In 2003, Eliud Kipchoge won Gold and became famous after he outweighed renowned athletes like Kenenisa Bekele and Hicham El Guerrouj by only four-hundredth of a second at 12:52:19.  In 2004, Eliud Kipchoge won the Bronze medal in the 5000M race in Athens Olympics behind his arch challengers Kenenisa Bekele and Hicham El Guerrouj.

In 2006, Eliud Kipchoge won bronze in the Indoor at World Championship in Moscow. He also won a Silver Medal in the 2007 World Championship in 5000m race at Osaka, taking 13:46:00 to complete the race. He was defeated by a fellow Kenyan Bernard Lagat, who completed the race after13:45:87. In the 2008 Olympics, Eliud Kipchoge bagged a Silver medal in the 5000m race in Beijing, China, with a period of 13:05:59 behind Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia. In 2009 Eliud Kipchoge was an unlucky athlete who completed 9th in the 3000m race in the IAAF World Athletics Final. He, however, won the Great Yorkshire Run 10K and Campaccio Cross Country of 2009. In 2010, Eliud Kipchoge competed in the 500 meters in the Commonwealth Games and earned a Silver after the Ugandan Moses Kipsiro. Eliud competed again in Europe the following day in Belgrade Race, where his shoe tumbled in the final kilometer, denying him a title. In 2010 IAAF Diamond League in Qatar where he won the Qatar Super Grand Prix medal.

Eluid also participated in the Carlsbad 5000m in C.A., the U.S.A., where he made his world’s best despite winning Gold from the contest. In 2011 Eliud Kipchoge won the short race at the Great Edinburg Cross Country race ahead of Asbel Kiprop. He also participated in April Carlsbad 5000m, where he was the third person. In May 2011, Eliud Kipchoge bagged a bronze medal in the 3000m in Doha. In 2012, Eliud Kipchoge participated in the Edinburg Cross Country and completed third after Abel Kiprop of Kenya and Jonathan Hay of Britain. He bagged bronze from the race. His interest in participating in the 10,000m race in Prefontaine Classic Olympics of 2012 failed after he was seventh in the trials. In the same year, Eliud made a debut in half Marathon in Lillie, France, where he won Gold besides setting a world record of 59:36:00.

In June 2012, Eliud Kipchoge participated in the 2012 IAAF Half Marathon Championships in Kavarba, Bulgaria, where he was 6th at 1:01:52. The race was won by Zsersenay Tades of Eritrea. In 2013, Eliud Kipchoge bagged Gold in the Barcelona Half Marathon after competing for the race at 1:00:04. He also participated in April Hamburg Marathon and bagged the title after taking 2:05:30, beating the second athlete with two minutes.  He ventured in the Berlin Marathon, immediately completing the second after Wilson Kipsang. In 2015 Eliud Kipchoge participated in the Ras al Khaimah Half marathon, where he completed sixth completing the race after 1:00:05. However, Eliud Kipchoge won the Berlin Marathon of 2015, attaining the personal best of 2:04:00. In 2016, Eliud Kipchoge won God decoration in the Rio Olympics that were held in 2016. He runs at a pace of 2:08:44 in completing a marathon race of 42 Kilometers. He was closely followed by Faysa Lilesa of Ethiopia that completed the race after 2:09:54, and Galen Rupp of the U.S.A. Eliud Kipchoge turned to be the fastest Kenyan long-distance runner after Sammy Wanjiru of Beijing 2008 that won the Marathon.

In 2017, Eliud Kipchoge participated in the Boston Half Marathon and won the title, completing the race at 59:17. In September 2017, Eliud Kipchoge bagged the Berlin Marathon by completing the race in 2:03:32. This race was so tough that the former legends like Wilson Kipsang and Kenenisa Bekele failed to finish. In 2018 Eliud Kipchoge won the London Marathon against the four times Gold medalist Mo Farah and Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia. In September 2018, Eliud Kipchoge won the Berlin Marathon breaking the world record by 18 seconds when he completed the race after 2:01:39. In 2019, Eliud Kipchoge won the London Marathon taking a period of 2:02:37, his second quickest running after the Berlin World record.

Eliud Kipchoge announced the Ineos 1:59 challenge in May 2019 immediately after winning the London Marathon of 2019. On 12th October 2019, Eliud Kipchoge took himself against time in the Marathon at Vienna’s Prater Park, where he runs 4.4 laps around the Park. He had announced to run the 42 kilometers in less than two hours. Eliud Kipchoge completed the Marathon in 1:59:40, delivering on his promise. Eliud Kipchoge is the only man who runs a full marathon in less than two hours, making history in the world. He broke the two-hour barrier as promised.
